Rose is Back and I'm Sort of Thrilled

It was Prom 2012. I was sitting uncomfortably in the limo attempting to not flash the people sitting inches in front of me. Why am I talking about my junior prom, an event that was frankly pretty underwelming, you might ask?
Because that's when I heard the news: Derrick Rose had left game one against the Sixers with an injury. It looked like a torn ACL.
      Cringe.

      Oh no.
      Not Derrick.
      It can't be.
      Shit.
Five hundred and fifty one days later, with another prom under my belt, I remember that afternoon, not because of the uncomfortable gold heals I was wearing but because our guyChicago's guywas down, our season was lost.
      Of course, now he's back.
In the home opener last night, Rose shot an incredible 7-23 from the field with 2-11 in the first half. Not that it mattered to any of us, any of the people that swell with pride when his name is mentioned and look away when the footage of that ACL tear is shown. Because he hit the floater with 5.7 seconds remaining to put the Bulls ahead 82-81 against the Knicks.
2-11 is forgotten. 7-23 is forgiven.
I can't wipe this smile off my face. Rose is back.
